Information on the University's compliance with the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act (2015), commonly known as "the Prevent duty”.

The Complaint Handling Procedure is designed to ensure that complaints are properly investigated and are given careful and fair consideration.

The University holds a TV licence that covers all University work premises for any equipment capable of receiving a TV signal.

The University holds an Educational Recording Agency (ERA) licence allowing staff to record broadcast output from ERA members for non-commercial educational purposes.

The 1994 Education Act (Section 22) requires University Court, the governing body of the University, to ensure that the Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA) operates in a fair and democratic manner and is accountable for its finances.

From 1 July 2025, it will become a legal requirement for individuals and organisations to register activities being undertaken at the direction of a foreign state or a foreign state-controlled organisation.

The Speakers and Events Oversight Group’s purpose is to have operational oversight of events which have been deemed high risk as part of the University’s room booking process and/or escalated directly under the Policy on Speakers and Events. This Group is chaired by the University Secretary.
