Meet the colleagues who oversee University Secretary Group.

Leigh is Vice-Principal and University Secretary, a position she’s held since 2022. She has worked at the University since 2014, when she was appointed as the first Director of Legal Services.

Niall Bradley is the Interim Director of Communications & Marketing and has worked at the University for almost three decades. He leads the University’s communications, marketing and stakeholder relations to protect and enhance our reputation.

Shane Collins

Shane is Director of Student Recruitment & Admissions, a post he’s held since 2023. In this collaborative leadership role he works with colleagues across the institution to deliver the University’s future student objectives.

Chris Cox

Chris joined the University in 2016 and is Vice-Principal Philanthropy and Advancement and Executive Director of Development & Alumni. He leads the University’s philanthropic strategy and alumni engagement to support students, research and the wider University.

Lucy Evans

Lucy joined the University in 2022 and holds the post of Associate Principal and Deputy Secretary, Students. She leads the University’s approach to learning, teaching and the student experience, and oversees the Student Experience Services directorate.

Louise Kelso

Louise joined the University in 2023 and leads the University's legal and information compliance functions, providing expert advice to support compliant decision making and to protect the University's interests and reputation.

Alan Mackay

Alan is the Deputy Vice-Principal International and Director of Edinburgh Global. With 24 years at the University, he leads international strategy, builds global partnerships and enables mobility and immigration services to grow the University's impact and reputation.

Rona Smith

Rona is Deputy Secretary Governance & Strategic Planning, a post she’s held since 2021. Rona’s role is deeply woven in to supporting and evidencing how the University is progressing against Strategy 2030.

Melissa Turner

Melissa is Head of USG Planning & Operations, a post she’s held since 2024. She also heads up USG’s Business Unit, providing critical support services to University Secretary’s Group to effectively deliver services for our students and staff.
